Overall Goal of the Program….
Provide the primary care physician with more tools and understanding of childhood obesity; prevention, diagnosis and treatment options ranging from patient education, cutting calories, and lifestyle changes to the possibility and realities of bariatric surgery.


OBJECTIVES: At the conclusion of this educational activity, the participant will be able to:
Cecilia Rokusek, PhD Nutritional Approach:
1) Recognize how we can prevent childhood obesity through healthy eating habits.
2) Review healthy eating habits and indicate how to convey them to our patients
3) Describe tools to access obesity risks and address nutrition plans and education for these patients.

Robert Cywes M.D., Ph.D. Surgical Approach:
1) Understand the causes of obesity 2) Review the links to metabolic disease
3) Distinguish which children meet surgical criteria 4) Define the types, role and efficacy of surgery

Members and Guests of the Palm Beach County Pediatric Society, Pediatric Dentists, Hospital and Office Staff, Nurses, Medical Assistants and all other interested HCA Providers.
